Equivalence for pilots and tandem pilots

If you are already a confirmed pilot, you want to become an APPI member.

Check which federations allow you APPI equivalence. Should your issuing federation not qualify for equivalence, you will need to be validated by an APPI Instructor.

Please, complete the application using your current licenses, experiences and qualifications. Read the APPI License Agreement, click on the button ’I am agree’ below and follow subsequent steps.

Add your SIV, First Aid certification, approval of exams, and become an APPI Advanced Pilot.

Equivalence for instructors

Check which federations allow you APPI equivalence.
However, in any case, you will need to be validated by an APPI Master Instructor.

Validations can be done online by an APPI instructor or an APPI master instructor..

For you to join APPI as an instructor and professional member, please read carefully and send APPI the documents listed below:

Equivalence documents for Instructors:

  1. Be an Instructor with at least the last two years experience.
  2. Have certified a minimum of 50 students as Pilots, with FAI License Parapro 4
  3. Submit documentation of First Aid Training (Red Cross or other rescue organization equivalence recognized by Red Cross).
  4. Submit documentation of experience, reference the school and any qualifying certifications by another paragliding training organization (following an education system), SIV Qualification, Instructor, Tandem/ Parapro 5, etc….
  5. Successfully complete the course equivalence, in a qualified APPI School with APPI Master Instructor. Which means that new instructors must be validated by an APPI Master Instructor.

Registration procedures:

Upload online an id photograph (jpeg file). Upon approval of the application and payment of membership fee, APPI will issue an APPI Certification Card.

APPI can register you ’IN PROGRESS’, until you complete all requirements.

Send your documents to secretary@appifly.org, to complete your request.

All information are confidential and cannot be used by APPI without your approbation.
*For instructors and tandem pilots only: your name, country, website and photograph will be displayed on APPI website, all other information are confidential.

Caution: Any member who intentionally provides false or changed information will be blacklisted for ever.

License Agreement for APPI Members

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

APPI professional membership is offered by APPI Association to qualified individuals. It provides an array of programs and services, including, depending upon the member’s current classification, the ability to offer and advertise APPI Paragliding Education Courses as well as other courses and programs provided by APPI’s licensed Center and Schools.
APPI membership and continued renewal is partially based upon your reading and validating this Agreement. APPI will consider your membership or renewal of your membership subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. I have made myself familiar with and will abide by the applicable Standards and Procedures, and will adhere to all standards changes published in website, Training Bulletins and other updates, within the capacity of my current classification, when conducting any APPI-related Program. I also will not deviate from the applicable standards when representing myself as an APPI Member.
  2. I have become familiar with all APPI-related Program educational materials and am knowledgeable of any revisions to such materials and the introduction of new materials. I am aware of the fact that paragliding can seriously affect a person’s health and life. I agree to omit from certification or course completion registration any student who does not meet all the prerequisites and performance requirements specified for any APPI related Program.
  3. I understand and agree that any false reports of standards violations deemed by the Quality Management Committee to have been made for competitive, political or financial reasons shall be grounds for Quality Assurance action.
  4. I am aware of the Quality Assurance Report Form that may be filed with APPI. I am further aware of the recourse available to me through the APPI Quality Assurance process to refute any complaints that may be reported. I understand and agree that all rulings by the Quality Management Committee with regards to such complaints shall be deemed binding.
  5. I understand and agree that APPI may notify other paragliding organizations should any APPI Member be required by the Quality Management Committee to undergo instructor- level retraining. I also understand and agree that APPI may notify other paragliding organizations or schools of the existence of any active or unresolved Quality Assurance inquiry concerning my activities as an APPI Member. I further understand that the names of suspended and expelled members will be published on APPI website.
  6. I agree to provide APPI with true and correct student/participant contact information, including the student’s proper mailing and e-mail address, when I submit or validate any certification authorization or participant registration (online application/registration, ID card and validation) for any APPI-related Program to APPI. I understand and agree such information regarding an APPI program shall be the property of APPI and the submitting member.
  7. I acknowledge that paragliding and paragliding instruction are mentally strenuous activities and that it is my personal responsibility to maintain the necessary level of balance and fitness in order to involve myself in paragliding instructional and supervisory activities. I also acknowledge that should my mental or physical condition or health change, rendering me incapable of meeting the requirements paragliding instruction and supervision, I will cease my instructional and supervisory activities until I am again capable and, if necessary, cleared by a medical examination performed by a licensed physician.
  8. I understand and agree that all members (individuals, APPI centers and schools) involved in the training of a particular student, as determined by student certification records at APPI, are responsible for adherence to APPI Standards, as appropriate, during the conduct of that training. The Training and Quality Management Department will communicate with all involved members upon receipt of reports or any other information indicating possible violations of Standards and Procedures.
  9. I understand and agree that financial irresponsibility in dealings with APPI or its affiliates or associated companies is grounds for membership suspension or termination.
  10. I will not discredit APPI or its affiliates or associated companies, nor cause any action that will create a liability to them. APPI will have the sole right to determine whether any of my actions violate the intentions of this paragraph.
  11. I will file an APPI Incident Report Form with APPI for any incident relating to my activities as an APPI Member of which I may become aware that may have or potentially may have harmed myself or another individual.
  12. I understand and agree that the terms and conditions of this Agreement are effective and binding from the day I started and for subsequent years of my membership with APPI. Should APPI modify this Agreement, I will be notified in writing of the changes prior to the next renewal.
  13. I understand and agree that this Agreement does not create an agency relationship between APPI and me. Except as otherwise provided in this Membership Agreement, APPI has no control over or involvement with my day-to-day operations and activities and bears no responsibility for the same.
  14. I understand and agree that APPI Membership is granted at the sole discretion of APPI, based upon its unilateral determination of several criteria including, but not limited to, whether acceptance and continuation of any membership is in the best interest of APPI. Satisfaction of minimum requirements does not guarantee membership. APPI Membership, at any level, may be revoked by APPI, at its sole discretion, at any time.
  15. APPI has Logmarks to indicate the source of origin of its and its related services and certifications, so that the public will be protected; and so APPI individual members, students and others associated with APPI will receive the highest-quality services and products pertaining to paragliding. To provide APPI Members with the ability to advertise, promote and indicate the source of origin of the APPI services, and certification they provide, APPI Members are hereby granted a license to use the APPI logomarks on promotional materials only, specifically printed, film or video formats, and software, fixed media, such as floppy disks, hard drives or CDROM, or any interactive digital or broadcast media or methods, including, but not limited to, internet or world wide web sites. The single exception to the terms above is that, with specific, written authorization from the respective licensed APPI Center or School, may place the APPI globe Mark on their facility staff shirts, in very limited quantities. Such shirts may not be resold in any manner, and each such printing must receive separate written authorization.

The license shall not extend to the provision of other printed materials, such as manuals, books, instructions, clothing (except as noted above) or products or any other materials whether or not they are manufactured, sold, distributed or licensed to others by APPI.

This license extended by APPI Assoc. shall only be with respect to (1.) Printed advertising and promotional materials, (newspaper and periodical advertisements, telephone- directory advertising, handbills and signs, except for staff shirts, as noted above); (2.) Film and video format promotional materials such as television commercials, slide shows or promotional videos; and (3.) Software, fixed media, such as floppy disks, hard drives or CD-ROM, or any interactive digital or broadcast media or methods, including, but not limited to, internet or world wide web sites, with such uses governed by the most current guidelines, as may be published by APPI from time to time; none of which shall include use on any item or product intended for resale.

None of the APPI logomarks may be used in internet domain names or e-mail addresses. The foregoing license for advertising and promotional use shall in all respects follow the exact format, character, general appearance, type style, background and proportions of the Marks originating from APPI. In no case shall the logomarks be combined with other marks, symbols, language or be in a format and appearance other than that actually used by APPI. The full trademark must be used; truncated or partial use of a logomark is not authorized. This license shall be personal to the individual member and shall be nontransferable, non-divisible and not capable of being sublicensed in any manner through any party. None of the APPI company name, trade name or logomarks may be incorporated into any other trademark or trade name. Notwithstanding the foregoing, APPI and the licensed APPI Centers and Schools shall have the sole right to disapprove of any promotional materials prepared and shall be the sole judge of the criteria of whether it meets the standard of this license agreement. To this end, any suggestions or requests by authorized members of the APPI staff as to the usage of the logomarks shall be complied with as soon as possible to avoid mistakes, deceptions, dilution or other problems that would be detrimental to the foregoing logomarks.

Regardless of the foregoing license, APPI individually and cooperatively, shall have the right to institute and bring any suit or any other action necessary to protect the logomarks as to any person, firm or corporation now or prospectively using the logomarks or any similar marks, derivations, analogs, trade names, fanciful scripts or designs. This license shall extend for the term of membership and shall be terminated forthwith upon termination of the member’s membership with APPI Assoc.

More information about being an APPI Instructor

APPI Instructor denotes an individual who has exemplary paragliding skills and role model behavior, solid rescue skills, professional level knowledge of paragliding theory, management and supervision abilities, and competence as a certified instructor.
APPI Instructors are paragliding instructors from other paragliding training organizations or schools, as well, who successfully completed equivalence in skills.
Instructors may conduct a large range of APPI courses and programs from Open Sky to APPI Solo Pilot, Advanced Courses, Rescue or Specialty courses, when qualified. Instructors may become APPI Specialty Instructors and future APPI Master Instructors.

*APPI instructors must follow theoretical exams in accordance with APPI rules, and use online exams system for all pilots level and professional courses.

**For APPI Master Equivalence it is fundamental to have incorporated APPI Educational System, and have been regularly registering/ validating students – easy steps to follow and learn, on menu: Instructors-> Help for Instructors. *Special support is offered for active instructors joining APPI.

IMPORTANT AND FUNDAMENTAL RULES:

  1. Having your school as an APPI School your target is to add the APPI Education System, you don’t need to change your own system, but add APPI to it, with Best International Standard.
  2. After the validation of your application and fees payment, you will receive your APPI Certification Card, sent to your address. And an APPI login, to settle information and get all advantages online.
  3. From then, you must start to register and validate students online, which will be in your name and in the name of your School, passing the exams/ validation of level. To activate membership is optional and must be done online by students. Special support is offered for active instructors joining APPI.
  4. Becoming an APPI instructor, you will be able to access all APPI documents as Manuals, courses programs, graduations and exams online. It is fundamental to download and read carefully APPI Instructor Manual, which contains important information, to follow APPI Education System, and have your students passed APPI Exams and progressions (available online).
  5. Any case of accident must be reported to APPI, which is confidential, and to help APPI to develop safe and high standards for Paragliding.
  6. When any APPI pilot arrive for the first time at your School, you must welcome him in your flying site, give him one first day free assistance, which means important information and one check flight. If the pilot has no requirements for the flying site, a course should be proposed.
