SIV Pilot


SIV (Simulation d’Incident en VOL) Pilots course is designed for solo pilots on the way to becoming advanced pilots. They have the skills for action and surprises in the sky, safety from turbulence, collapses, throwing rescue, etc. And for advanced pilots who wants to update and refresh their skills and safety. The pilot practices how to collapse and control the wing in stages, over the water, and safe general emergency procedures.

Prerequisites/ Course Contents/ Obligation

To enroll in a SIV Pilot course, an individual must:

  1. Be a certified APPI Solo Pilot. Or have a qualifying certification from another training organization (see equivalence standard).
  2. Have completed a minimum 3 day course on practical, preparation, technical and safety, by supervision of an APPI SIV Instructor.
  3. Have completed a minimum 8 to 10 flights/ training sessions, with radio supervision.
  4. Respect APPI Safety Rules and Quality Standards following the instructions.
  5. If not an APPI SIV Pilot, successfully complete the APPI SIV course equivalence.

Training and Certification

APPI SIV Pilot Certification, must be validated by an APPI SIV instructor. APPI Advanced Pilots candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements. To apply for certification, the certifying APPI Instructor submits a completed, signed Pilot Application to the appropriate APPI Office along with the required photo, application fee and other qualifying certification documentation (if applicable). Upon approval of the application, APPI will issue an APPI SIV Pilot Certification Card.

Renewal

APPI SIV Pilots do not require separate renewal.
